Our Privacy Statement in Plain English

We don't want any information about you that you don't want us to have. If you have a business entry in the City of Frankston Business Directory, some information about you (email address, contact numbers, etc.) is necessary in order to do things like complete your business directory entry, but you would have to voluntarily give that information to us in order for us to have it. Information Collection and Use
The City of Frankston is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. We will not sell, share, or rent this information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement. The City of Frankston collects information from our users at several different points on our website.

Member Site Login
We request information from member businesses on our login page. Here an existing business user must provide the username and password provided to them by the City of Frankston. If a new (or previously unlisted) business wishes to create an entry in the City of Frankston Business Directory we require some basic contact information (like business name, contact name, address, etc). This information is used to ensure that the business doesn't already exist in the directory and to create new usernames and passwords. If we have trouble processing a request, this contact information is used to get in touch with the user.

The intended use of the information maintained in the City of Frankston Business Directory is clearly marked. Some information is explicitly used to promote businesses through the web site, hard copy and electronic versions of the City of Frankston Business Directory. Other information (clearly marked "Confidential Information") is not published in any form to the public. This information is used solely by the City of Frankston for communication, planning and demographic purposes only.

If a business chooses to sign up for any of the special offers (where outside agencies are used), only basic information is provided to ensure the business is a located and operating in the City of Frankston. These parties are not allowed to use personally identifiable information except for the purpose of providing these services.

A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's hard drive containing information about the user. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on our site. Once the user closes their browser, the cookie simply terminates.
